B. David Sweeney

Bankruptcy attorney David Sweeney was born and raised in Selmer, a small town in McNairy County, West Tennessee. After graduating from high school in 1976, he attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Business Marketing. To help finance his education, David worked various jobs throughout high school and college—everything from bartending to working offshore on an oil rig.

In 1984, he enrolled at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama, earning his Juris Doctor and an honorary Proctor of Admiralty designation in 1987. That same year, David was admitted to the Tennessee Bar and began practicing in Memphis and across West Tennessee.

Throughout his career, David has been a dedicated advocate for consumers, focusing his practice on bankruptcy and consumer rights, estate planning, and corporate formation.

He was an original member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and is currently a member and former state chair of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. David also served as Chairman of the Memphis Bar Association Bankruptcy Section and as a member of the Western District of Tennessee Bankruptcy Court’s Liaison Committee.

Today, David is the sole stockholder of The Sweeney Law Firm, P.C., based in Memphis, Tennessee. When he’s not helping clients, he enjoys spending time at home with his dogs, tending to his garden, golfing, or relaxing on the lake.

David genuinely cares about his clients and is committed to helping them regain financial stability. Get the support you deserve when you partner with The Sweeney Law Firm.
