B. David Sweeney

Bankruptcy Attorney David Sweeney was born and raised in the west Tennessee town of Selmer in McNairy County.
After graduating high school in 1976, David left Selmer and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He received an MS degree in business marketing.
During both high school and college David worked at a variety of jobs to finance his education. From bartending to working offshore on an oil rig.
In 1984 David enrolled at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law located in Birmingham, Alabama. He received his law degree as well as an honorary Proctor of Admiralty designation in 1987.
Admitted to practice in Tennessee in 1987, David has practiced in Memphis and West Tennessee. He has been an advocate for consumer issues. His practice has focused primarily in the areas of bankruptcy and consumer rights, estate planning, and corporate formation.
David was an original member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates. He is currently a member and former state chair of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. David also was the former Chairman of the Memphis Bar Association Bankruptcy Section and has served on the Western District of Tennessee Bankruptcy Court’s Liaison Committee.
Currently, David is the sole stockholder of The Sweeney Law Firm, P.C., located in Memphis, Tennessee.
When David is not helping others he can be found at home with his best friend and significant other, Pam, who has put up with him for the last 20 years. They have two “children”, Kate and Luke. Both are AKC-registered black labs. Besides Pam, Kate and Luke, David enjoys his garden or being at Pickwick Lake where he can get away from it all.
